The Earth Day

The Earth gives us shelter. It is our home, and as such, it seems necessary that we care for better quality of life for all who live. These fundamental principles are those who, in the early 70s, led the U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson to promote a campaign in his defense. He was the founder of the International Day of Mother Earth.
The International Day of Mother Earth is held annually to raise awareness about the need to protect our planet. Because it is our responsibility to prevent death - our death-especially when the main threats are related to the pollution generated and other types of environmental problems.

Did you know ...?
Although not official, the Earth has a banner on which is leading the Blue Marble, a photograph of the planet taken by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft in 1972.
That image was taken at a distance of about 28,968 miles, and is one of the few that appears fully illuminated Earth.
